The MCAS Masterclass
This is a full course on mast cell activation syndrome from Dr. Joyce Knieff, NMD, LAc. It’s made for adults with diagnosed or suspected MCAS who react to foods, medications and their environment, often after years of trial and error and conflicting advice.
The course opens one module at a time. Join the waitlist and you’ll hear first when Module 1 is ready.
The order matters more than the pick
In Dr. Joyce’s experience, a lot of MCAS treatment that didn’t work was a timing problem: a reasonable tool used before the body could tolerate it. So the course stabilizes first and then works on what keeps the mast cells firing. Each phase makes the next one easier to tolerate.
Eleven modules, in the order they build
- 1
What MCAS Is and How It's Diagnosed
Why nothing seems to stick, how one cell type causes symptoms all over the body, and why normal test results are so common.
- 2
Stabilization, the Foundation Medications
Antihistamines, cromolyn and ketotifen, the mediators antihistamines miss, and a flare plan you make ahead of time.
- 3
Biologics, Targeted Drugs and Off-Label Options
Biologics, low-dose naltrexone, and how to read the options you see discussed online.
- 4
Supplements, Histamine Clearance and Food
Flavonoid stabilizers, the two ways your body clears histamine, and how to eat while you're reactive without staying restricted.
- 5
The Nervous System and the Mast Cell
Why stress can flare you with no new exposure, and what biofeedback, posture, muscle tension and breathing show about your stress response.
- 6
Regulation Matched to You
Calming practices matched to the way your body reacts to stress, and a daily routine you can keep with MCAS.
- 7
The Gut and Your Mast Cells
SIBO and dysbiosis, how butyrate turns down mast cell reactivity, and rebuilding the bacteria that make it.
- 8
Resetting the Threshold
Why some mast cells are quick to fire, and the herbs and nutrients that can move that setting.
- 9
Detoxification, in the Right Order
Why detox makes MCAS worse when the order is wrong, and how to work through the pathways in the right one.
- 10
What Keeps Mast Cells Firing
Mold and environmental exposures, viruses, your cycle, thyroid and cortisol.
- 11
Getting Your Life Back
Widening your diet, stepping down treatment, handling setbacks, and a personal plan to bring to your providers.
Who it’s for
It’s also for people with overlapping histamine intolerance, hEDS, POTS, long COVID or SIBO, and for the family members who live alongside the condition. The goal is fewer reactions, a wider diet and environment, and a life as close to normal as you can get.
